The downloaded file looks wrong in Excel

Everything in one column, strange characters or phone numbers without the plus sign.

Everything is in one column

Some Excel versions in Europe expect a semicolon instead of a comma. Open a blank workbook, choose Data, then From Text/CSV, pick the file and confirm that the delimiter is a comma. Google Sheets and Numbers open the file correctly by double-clicking.

Accented names show strange characters

The file is saved so that Excel recognises the characters. If an older Excel still shows odd characters, use the same From Text/CSV import and choose the file origin UTF-8.

Phone numbers lost the plus sign or became a formula

Preb writes phone numbers in a way that keeps the plus sign in Excel and Google Sheets. If your tool strips it, format the column as text before importing.

A cell starts with an apostrophe

Cells that begin with a symbol such as = or + get a leading apostrophe in the file. This is a safety measure so that a spreadsheet never runs them as a formula. Excel hides the apostrophe, other tools may show it.
