My file will not upload
Size, format and header problems, and how to save a clean CSV from Excel or Google Sheets.

| Message or problem | Cause | Fix |

| Only CSV and XLSX files are supported. | The file is a PDF, an old XLS, a Numbers file or similar. | Save it as CSV or XLSX, see below. |
| The file is larger than 20 MB. | Very large exports, often with many unused columns. | Delete columns you do not need, or split the file. |
| Only the first 10,000 rows will be used. | The file has more rows than one list can hold. | Split the file into parts of 10,000 rows and upload each as a list. |
| The file has no data rows. | The sheet is empty, or only has a header. | Check that you exported the right sheet. |
| Could not read the file. | The file is password protected or damaged. | Remove the protection, or open and save it again. |
Save as CSV from Excel
- Open File, then Save As.
- Choose the type CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited).
- Save and upload that file.
Download as CSV from Google Sheets
- Open File, then Download.
- Choose Comma Separated Values (.csv).
- Upload the downloaded file.
